MORE THAN TWO CENTURIES AGO...Furneau Southall welcomed guests to his prosperous Virginia plantation.
TODAY... The Gordineer family welcomes you to relive Virginias Golden Age.
A short drive west of Colonial Williamsburgs Historic Area, Virginias plantation past awaits you! Piney Grove at Southalls Plantation is conveniently situated for visiting Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, Williamsburg Outlet Shopping, the renowned Williamsburg Pottery, Williamsburg Busch Gardens and Williamsburg Area golfing. Area offerings in Richmond include Civil War battlefields, the Court End Museums and Sites, the Museums of the Boulevard and numerous historic neighborhoods including Church Hill, Jackson Ward, Windsor Farms, and the Riverfront. Nearby Hopewell and Petersburg offer more plantation touring and Civil War sites, including Pamplin Park. Just a hop and skip across the Chickahominy River you will find the Colonial Downs horse racing facility and Royal New Kent golf course.
Regardless of you itinerary, your visit to the past begins, depending on the season, with Mint Juleps on the front porch or Hot Toddies by a roaring fire. Also enjoy a bottle of Virginia wine or Virginia cider from the Piney Grove wine cellar selection, including vintages from the Williamsburg Winery.
Spacious guestrooms in the 1857 LADYSMITH HOUSE are furnished with antiques and family heirlooms. Rooms also include modern conveniences such as private modern baths, refrigerators, coffee makers and hairdryers. The pool, gazebo, nature trail and lawn games are available for guest enjoyment. The barnyard of farm animals, the star-filled country sky and bird-friendly gardens also provide first-rate live entertainment! Lodgings are INSPECTED, RATED AND APPROVED by several of Americas premier travel guides and travel associations.
Each morning the farm bell announces the plantation breakfast served by candlelight in the 1790 LOG ROOM. The hearty morning meal prepares you for a busy day of touring, a day of recreation or just a relaxing day at Piney Grove. Elegant candlelight dinners may be enjoyed nearby at Indian Fields Tavern and the Coach House Tavern, or partake in one of Piney Groves Progressive Dinner Tours.
